Leave Buckden Car Park and head for Rakes Wood

You may bump into Blair and Cameron

Upper Wharfedale and Hubberholme are over to the left

Follow the dry stone wall off to the left and through the gate

Take the Buckden Pike FP sign and ascent diagonally across several fields

Superb views across upper Wharfedale

Its not too late to turn back to The White Lion at Cray

or continue to ascent to the next rise for even more awesome views

Mind you don't fall down a (snow filled) shake hole

Follow the dry stone wall as it descends the ridge

Veer to the right of the tributary valley to descend

Follow the track down to Starbotton

Take the green lane back to the River Wharfe

Cross the footbridge and turn right

Follow the Dales Way back to Buckden

On a completely different day a couple of months later...

Richard, Bramble and I went up Buckden Pike in T-shirts

and visited the Polish air crew memorial

and down the valley to Starbotton
